New Dates Added

New performance dates for Il Postino and Salsipuedes have been added! Coming first in October, the Caribbean infused Salsipuedes will be performed in Mexico as part of Festival Cervantino. In November, Virginia Opera will be performing Il Postino in Norfolk, Fairfax and then Richmond. In February, Albuquerque will have the opportunity to see Il Postino in a production by Opera Southwest. Il Postino will then be performed in California in a production by Opera Santa Barbara in March. Additional information on the events can be found by clicking the link for the individual event.

It has been announced that ENCANTAMIENTO: Music of Daniel Catán--has been accepted for Grammy consideration in the Classical Compendium category! Cynthia Clayton's incredible performance as well as the hard work of all those involved has not gone unnoticed. Listen to the album on iTunes and Spotify! As part of the steps taken to preserve Daniel's music, over 40 hours of audio have been preserved at the Fonoteca Nacional de México. We are pleased to announce that this archival music will soon be available for streaming on this website. Coming from several sources and with varying quality, the archive contains some of the rarest recordings of Daniel's music.

As part of the 2018-2019 season, Houston Grand Opera will perform Florencia en el Amazonas! Having premiered the opera in 1996 and recording the release for Albany Records, Houston Grand Opera has deep ties to this beautiful work. Performance dates include January 18, 20, 26 and 30 as well as February 3.
We are incredibly excited to announce the upcoming release of 'Encantamiento: The Music of Daniel Catán'. Featuring performances by Andrea Puente-Catán, Cynthia Clayton, Héctor Vásquez and the Texas Music Festival Orchestra, this album will include the never before released 'Antonieta Songs'. Salsipuedes is Coming to Mexico!

Salsipuedes: A Tale of Love, War and Anchovies is coming to Mexico! This incredibly unique work integrates opera and Caribbean music to create a sound that is both beautiful and unforgettable. Beginning with a double wedding, Ulises and Chucho are mistakenly taken aboard a ship where they get tangled in a plot by the corrupt government of the island of Salsipuedes. It will be performed at the Teatro-sala de conciertos Elisa Carrillo, Texcoco, Mexico and it is FREE. Do not miss out.
